PANDORA and 4.2

hi all, with all the updates and quickly growing popularity, i thought it would be worth starting a thread on 4.2 to talk about it and so others can say what they think,
I downloaded it (again) when 4.2.10 come out a few weeks back, and it is much much much improved, and infact, very good . For those who log into IRC, you'll notice the vast majority of PCW's are now on 4.2 servers, in the last hour there have been 2 PCW's on 4.1 and 20 PCW's on 4.2, and in the last 2 weeks alone, it's been harder for me to get PCW's on 4.1 (you may have noticed, sometimes it takes me 20 mins to 30 mins to find one! )
I realise the first 4.2 release was very (very) bad and put people off, but i urge you all to at least try it, i have been and have played it a lot recently!


As for the server, Boina said about others aasking him if he was going to move server to 4.2 . Again i don't know what others think, but i think this is not a good idea at the moment. We have built a massivley popular 4.1 server, and we should leave it there for now to keep growing with our massive numbers of loyal users.
I do however think in the near future we should think about putting a small server on 4.2 to test out for a month and see how popular it is, and then we can judge whether it would be a good idea to keep it running, i know strawberry has some good ideas about how to get some sort of VPS or something, so we can have an always on and reliable free-ish server, we have control over from strawberry.


I don't know, i just want to hear what others thought about joining me once in a while for a game on 4.2

Why don't everyone donate a small amount, and rent a VPS for a month to test 4.2 (like SEXYS CTF server)? It's about 15€ or maybe less. I can setup everything (b3, slots, etc).

like i said before straw' I am more than happy to pay to get a server up and running. I've donated about 10 euros this month to PANDORA, but if you want a donation directly to you, i can too, i really want to get the ball moving, as i just realised how little practice we have all had on 4.2 and how close ClanBase is, and the UZ league is coming up soon too.


(For those unaware, i gather ClanBase will be on 4.2 this year)
